63rd Class ReUnion Luncheon
On September 21st, 2023, eighteen classmates from the Class of 1960 gathered at the American Legion in Central Square for a buffet luncheon and spent time sharing life’s challenges and old memories about school days at Central Square.
We had one special guest join us and that was Marion Yerdon. Marion was among the first class in 1954 to graduate from P.V. Moore High School. Upon graduation Marion when to work for the Central Square School District and worked as Mr. Hughes secretary for 38 years. Marion presently serves as Historian for the Central Square Alumni Association. Marion had some great stories to share with us and I think one of our own classmates Sonny Manton had his own special chair in Mr. Hughes office.
We all took turns sharing memories about our favorite teachers and in some case teachers that were maybe not so favorite. Memories of kids that liked to play pranks, Nelson Pratt’s name was mentioned a few times so I guess he would get the most votes as the “Class Prankster.” Then there were the memorable ball games that Randy Warford, Ned Green, and Ed Sullivan remembered that were imbedded into there memories that they shared. Terry Brown traveled all the way from Arizona to join us, He talked a little bit about the book his Dad wrote called “HOUSE CALLS. ” Terry shared with us that his father kept a book with the names of all the babies he delivered on the North Shore among them are our classmates Marvin Reed and Judy Butler Parsons.
The afternoon slipped by quickly, but the handshakes, the hugs and the laughter filled the room from the time we arrived until we all left behind another year. There is no better memory to share than when we were a family of kids drawn together to learn, to mature and build friendships and sometimes we had to support a classmate overcome a hardship. Memories that last a lifetime simply labeled as “school days.”
