Ned Henry Green, 83, of West Monroe, New York died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Ned was a man of good nature with an unbridled enthusiasm for finding humor in all situations. He had an endless supply of jokes and wanted nothing more than to strike up a conversation and put a smile on your face. He was also a tireless worker who did everything he could to give his family all the opportunities life could offer.
Ned was born in West Monroe to Arlow and Sally (Campbell) Green. He attended Manlius Military Academy, graduated from Central Square High School in 1960, and served in the National Guard.
Ned spent decades in the golf course industry. He was superintendent of Crestwood Golf Course in Marcy, New York and Riverside Country Club in Brewerton, New York, and he owned and ran The Reel Man, a small business sharpening and repairing mower blades and equipment for golf courses. He later operated Greenview Country Club in West Monroe, New York on the former family dairy farm his father turned into a golf course, until it was sold in 2012. He also drove a school bus for the Central Square Central School District for 30 years.
He served for many years on the West Monroe Town Council. For more than 45 years, Ned was quietly devoted to helping others find their way to recovery, and the friendships he built through that work meant a great deal to him.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Roxana (Burns); his sons, Joseph (Nicole) of Keller, Texas, and their sons Connor and Benjamin, and Jesse (Cheri) of West Monroe, New York and their daughter Corrinne; and his daughter, Mary (Kevin) Volz of Los Angeles, California, and their children Mila and Charlie. He will be missed by all who knew him.
