Jim Traub of Chittenango, NY passed away peacefully Thursday October 10, 2019, at Vitas Hospice in Naples, FL.


Jim was born in Syracuse, NY to Alice (Minor) and George Traub Jr. of Central Square, NY, on February 27, 1942. He grew up in Central Square and graduated from Simmons School of Mortuary Science. He served as a licensed funeral director working in the family business throughout his life.

Jim married Linda (Webb) in December of 1960, and raised their children David (Margaret), Sherry (B.J.) Hayes, and Andrew (Angela). He has nine grandchildren: Christopher (Lexi), Ellen, Clarissa (Austin), Sara, Timothy (Erica), Brian, Victoria, Maggie, and Benjamin; and seven great grandchildren: Ross, Francessca, Bailey, Octavia, Aurora, Evelyn, and Ronan.

Jim married Dee Ann Hedlund Martin in October 2012, who has three children and four grandchildren.

Jim served his community in many ways as a member and leader of numerous boards and organizations, including Chittenango Rotary, Chittenango Lions Club, Central Square Free and Accepted Masons, Chittenango School Board, Madison County Republican Committee, Town of Sullivan Republican Committee, CNY Funeral Director’s Association, NYS Funeral Director’s Association Governmental Affairs Committee., presidential delegate of the 1980 Republican National Convention, and Town of Sullivan Supervisor.
Jim loved spending time with his family, including boating, golfing, family gatherings, and winters in Naples, FL. He was a Syracuse University basketball and football fan and enjoyed being a season ticket holder and traveled to basketball and bowl games around the country.
Jim also leaves behind a sister, Marlene (Terry) Young, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his wife Linda, and sister Roxanne Lennox.
